SEPTEMBER 11, 2002

The Cheerleaders of America remember September 11th and all the military personnel
stationed around the world, with the students from Cocopah Middle School in Scottsdale.

The Cheerleaders joined principal, Mrs. Monica Nelson, and Cocopah  students that are
members of the Student Council and National Junior Honor Society, at the flag pole in front of
the school.  The American Flag that flew on the flagpole, was flown in a fighter jet over
Afghanistan earlier in the summer in honor of the Cheerleaders of America visiting the US
troops deployed to the Middle East.

The ceremonies started with the National Anthem and were followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance.  Mrs. Nelson then read a statement that Arizona Senator John McCain, an
American War Hero, wrote for all the students.

The students (approximately 1000) each wrote letters to the troops telling them how much they
appreciate what they are doing, that they are remembered and true heroes!
The Cheerleaders will deliver the letters to the troops when they visit them overseas next
month.
